Clockwork possesses the ingredients that elevate them to the level of the musical elite.” -Phil Fetterman, "The Human Voice Show"

Hear Clockwork!

The clockwork sound is rooted in the tradition of great vocal jazz groups such as New York Voices, The HiLos, Singers Unlimited and Lambert, Hendricks and Ross; and draws creative inspiration from the variety of musical and artistic experiences which have influenced each of Clockwork’s talented singers. The result: a fresh and entertaining new interpretation of the vocal jazz ensemble.

Clockwork performs in several configurations including:
a cappella quintet/quartet, singers + one instrument, singers + jazz trio, and singers + big band.

Clockwork: Tesseract

TESSERACT

reviews

Really, I don't usually gush, but Tesseract, the first full-length album from Bay Area vocal jazz quintet Clockwork, is a real treasure. Complex, textured harmonies, near-perfect vocals, and heaps upon heaps of personality combine to dazzling effect here. And the best part is that these five incredible musicians pull it off with an effortlessness that makes Tesseract an immediately accessible, highly enjoyable treat.

Orange

reviews

Clockwork is a mixed vocal jazz quintet from San Francisco that came in second in the 2004 Harmony Sweepstakes finals. Their opener is an amazing re-imagination of Iron Butterfly's "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" (aka "In The Garden Of Eden) - truly mind-blowing if you know the original! Then they croon a lovely "Polkadots and Moonbeams" as if to say, "we can sing just about anything!" They are oh-so-cool and oh-so-tight on Jobim's classic "Corcovado." This tasty EP is actually pretty generous at six songs - a luscious taste of what we hope will be lots more to come!
